Calm & Strengthen: Restorative Yoga Poses for Relaxation and Strength
Restorative yoga is a gentle and soothing practice that focuses on relaxation and rejuvenation. By incorporating restorative poses into your routine, you can find a sense of calm while also strengthening your body. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, these restorative poses are perfect for unwinding and building strength.
1. Child's Pose (Balasana)

Start in a kneeling position, then slowly lower your torso towards the floor with your arms extended in front of you. This pose gently stretches the hips, thighs, and ankles while promoting relaxation.
2. Cat-Cow Stretch

Begin on your hands and knees, then alternate between arching your back (cat) and dropping your belly towards the floor (cow). This movement helps to improve spinal flexibility and strengthen the core.
3. Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani)

Lie on your back with your legs extended up against a wall. This restorative pose helps to reduce swelling in the legs, relieve lower back tension, and promote relaxation.
4. Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana)

Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor, then lift your hips towards the ceiling. Bridge pose strengthens the glutes, hamstrings, and core while opening the chest and shoulders.
5. Corpse Pose (Savasana)

End your practice by lying flat on your back with your arms by your sides. Close your eyes and focus on deep breathing, allowing your body to fully relax and rejuvenate.
By incorporating these restorative poses into your yoga practice, you can experience a sense of calmness, relaxation, and strength. Remember to listen to your body and breathe deeply as you move through each pose. Namaste!
